mighty mango
they were first spotted in stanley market, laying nonchalantly in rows, nestling among the papayas and canteloupe and other large, yellowish fruit.
soon they began to appear in other stands, stalls, and supermarkets.
rumors spread, tales of their giant size and weight made their way to people far and wide across the globe.

speculation on their contents, taste, price, and the width of their seed soon followed.
until...an experiment was in order. we saw the mango. we bought it for HK$25 (US$3.36), which seems pricey until you compare it to the square watermelons which go for about HK$700 (US$94).
and then we ate it.

Yum! Mangos in australia were about that size and all different colors - bright red, dark green, orange... and they were GOOOOD. So sweet, I had to have water to dilute the taste. But I never have had a giant yellow one.
i think these yellow ones started out green, because we saw the green ones too. but no reds - maybe these are from australia then??
yummy!! Those looks so sweet and juicy. As for me, I am savoring hawaii's papayas. I know I will be going through papaya withdrawals in about 2 weeks.
Such a privillege.....I hope I can taste one also....enjoy the fruits you can get in HK.....can't find anything close in MD =(
I'm dying to know... was it sweet? I love mangoes and buy multiple cases (16 each) each summer. Some people say the green and red ones are the sweetest, but I remain loyal to the champagne mango!
holla at me
